Mathematics Of Karma: A Spiritual “Credit Score”
Every action we take carries consequences:
In other words, when one engages in wrong or sinful actions, by moral or societal standards- knowingly or unknowingly, the suffering that follows is not punishment from the outside — it is simply the natural return of one’s own actions.
Thus, the principle is clear:
Good or bad, everything we experience is the direct or indirect outcome of our own karmic footprint.
But here’s the twist:
who decides whether an action is a sin or not?
Definitions of sin and virtue are not always fixed; they are often personal (subjective) and relative (based on context). Let’s Crack it.
Imagine you help an elderly woman cross the street. It’s definitely a virtuous act.
But if you record a video of it, post it on social media, and harvest millions of likes and applause, then what? Where is the purity in that act?
The catch lies right there — the thin, almost invisible line between virtue and vanity.
The truth is, karma isn’t just about what you do — it’s equally about why you do it & How you do it.
- Your intention matters.
- Did you act selflessly, or was there a hidden motive?
- Was your good deed spontaneous, or was it staged for an audience?
- Was it authentic, or orchestrated?
A charity done by accident might still be pure.
A help extended with an ulterior motive might dilute the merit of the act. Deeds done to harm, falsehoods spread, acts driven by greed — these clearly pile up into sin.
Even passive complicity — standing silent while wrongs unfold before your eyes — is a silent sin.
Human nature clings stubbornly to the ego — the constant refrain of “I, me, myself.”
But when outcomes are painful, uncomfortable, or confusing, we find ourselves caught in an endless struggle — unable to accept what life has presented us.
Inner conflict
This inner conflict robs us of the present moment yet again. Time slips away, life moves forward, and we — clinging to our past notions — become relics of a bygone time.
This thought is a form of escapism — a way to shift blame when no one else is around to take it.
And when no logical explanation suffices, we surrender with a sigh,
“Whatever God does, He does for a reason.”
We put on the mask of positive acceptance — but deep inside, confusion often lingers.
But the reality is:
We are not in a position to fully debate or understand karma, sin, or virtue.
Karma’s Terms and Conditions
Before birth itself, the “Terms and Conditions” of karma are force-accepted.
There is no “I Agree” button you can refuse to click; without acceptance, the journey of life simply doesn’t start.
All the legal formalities are completed before birth to avoid any disputes later. It’s not optional.
